Our Services
At County Roots we provide both preventative and restorative services. Our services are tailored to kids to give them the best possible dental visit.
Dental Cleanings
Dental cleanings are recommended by the American Dental Association every 6 months. We strive to provide a fun interactive appointment for kids of all ages.
Sealants
Sealants are a thin, protective coating painted on the chewing surfaces of the molars to prevent cavities by sealing the grooves and preventing food and bacteria from getting trapped, acting as a shield against decay
Fluoride
Fluoride is applied during cleaning appointments. It's applied in a thin layer to the teeth to help strengthen and protect enamel.
Silver Diamine Fluoride
SDF is a solution applied to active decay on the teeth to help stop the spread of the decay. SDF is a safe and effective method to help prevent decay.
Radiographs
Also known as x-rays, radiographs are diagnostic images that help the dentist see the parts of the teeth you can't see just by looking in the mouth. Bitewing x-rays are normally taken once a year at your cleaning appointment.
Space Maintainers
Space maintainers are used when teeth are taken out prematurely. The appliance is used to hold the space of the missing tooth while the permanent tooth comes in.
Composite Restorations
Composite restorations or white fillings are used to restore teeth that have cavities. Once the decay is removed from the tooth the white filling material is placed and the tooth is restored.
Stainless Steel Crowns
Stainless Steel Crowns are used when multiple surfaces of the teeth have decay that cannot be restored with white fillings. Once all decay is removed, these crowns or caps are placed over the entire tooth, providing a strong and protective restoration.
Zirconia Crowns
White zirconia crowns are used when multiple surfaces of the teeth have decay that cannot be restored with white fillings. Once all decay is removed, these crowns or caps are placed over the entire tooth, providing a strong and protective restoration. Zirconia crowns are primarily used on the front teeth.
Pulpal Therapy
A pulpectomy is used when the cavity in the tooth has gone too deep that a filling or crown alone cannot provide an effective restoration. During a pulpectomy the dentist will clean out the nerves of the teeth then fill the canal with a special filling material. A crown is then placed over the tooth to provide maximum protection.
Extractions
Extractions are done for a few different reasons. If the decay is too extensive or if infection incurs an extraction will most likely need to be done. Extractions may also need to be done for orthodontic purposes.
Sedation Dentistry
At County Roots we provide two different types of sedation to help with dental anxiety.

Nitrous Oxide
Nitrous Oxide or laughing gas is used in office to provide anxiety relief to patients during dental procedures. Nitrous oxide & oxygen are breathed in through the patients nose by the use of a nasal hood during the duration of the appointment. Due to a side effect of nausea we ask all our patients using nitrous oxide to not have anything to eat or drink 3 hours before their dental appointment.

General Anesthesia
General Anesthesia is used for patients who are unable to sit in the dental chair for in office procedures. These appointments take place at Cary Medical Center & Northern Light AR Gould Hospital. What to expect when general anesthesia is needed: You and your child will arrive at day surgery where you will check in and meet with your nurse, Dr. Johnson, and the hospital's anesthesia team. Once in the OR, anesthesia will help the patient go to sleep and closely monitor your child throughout the appointment. While your child is under general anesthesia, Dr. Johnson and his dental assistant will take any needed x-rays and complete any needed restorative work. Once the work is completed the anesthesia team will wake the patient back up and bring them into recovery. Dr. Johnson will then meet with the parent/guardians and provide an update of treatment along with post operative instructions.
